The Time: 1946
(between Dan's films Black Angel and White Tie and Tails)
The Place: 7621 Mulholland Drive, Hollywood, California.
Dan D. and his wife, Helen, moved out to Hollywood when their two sons, Peter and Dick, were still very young. The Duryeas bought a two-storied Mediterranean-style house on Mulholland Drive (a highway bisecting Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley). I've included the original captions below each of the photographs.

After dinner the Duryeas lounge in the living room which is spacious and livable. Antiques and extravagance are conspicuous by their absence. The room is the kind that the youngsters can enjoy, and even the dogs feel at home.

Dan stretches out before the den fireplace to study his script of Black Angel, which was before the cameras when these shots were made. A serious actor and a good "study," he has little trouble memorizing his lines.
I've got quite a few more photos of Dan D. at home with his wife and sons, so keep checking back. Also feel free to contact me if you are looking for anything in particular! (Click on any of the tabs at the top of this page to find contact info.)
