?Print Obituary & CondolencesLoving wife, mother and grandmother Elizabeth Jane Hairgrove, 82, passed away Friday, March 1, 2013, at home, with her daughters by her side.

Jane was born August 22, 1930, in Napier, Missouri, to George and Flossie Bush and was the youngest of seven siblings. She graduated from Fortescue High School in Fortescue, Missouri, in 1948 and studied journalism at a local college. Jane worked on the editorial staff of the St. Joseph News-Press in St. Joseph, Missouri, and later served as promotions manager for Metcalf South Shopping Center and as manager of special sections for Sun Publications, both in Overland Park, Kansas.

Jane will be remembered for her strength, generosity, kindness, quick wit and devotion to family. She was a talented writer and seamstress, an ardent reader and history buff, a master of the crossword puzzle and greatly enjoyed entertaining family and friends.

Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Hairgrove. She is survived by children Jan L. Soptic, Jill M. Bagby and Randy L. Hairgrove; son-in-law Michael J. Soptic; daughter-in-law Susan Hairgrove; and by grandchildren Joe, Jeff, Sam, Rick and Jordan. Jane was very fond of her caregivers, and her family is grateful to the staffs of Premier Custom Care and Kansas City Hospice for their support and compassion.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.? The Mass of Christian Burial will?follow at?11:00 a.m.; burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
