When it comes to military personnel and their families, we have nothing but respect. It takes a lot of courage ? both for soldiers and their families ? to represent our country in such a selfless way.
I personally have had to live that lifestyle before and it takes a toll on you. I grew up with a father that was an officer in the navy. He was always gone it seemed like. He had duty and he got deployed on a daily basis. My mother had to sit home and just wait for him to come home from duty and business trips. That situation is one of the least serious situations though.
For the past couple years we have been in and out of war with Iraq. Families have had to worry about the worst possible scenario. They have had to sit home at night and hope for a phone call, which aren?t very often. They also have to worry everyday if their loved one is going to come home in one piece. The military loses men and women everyday while in war. It is something that nobody wants to hear has happened because it is a hard concept to deal with.
Some people don?t see it like that; they see it as an opportunity to live a happy stable life. Yes the military does give out a lot of benefits but only because the amount of work and stress it entails. The benefits are great though. One of which includes amazing health insurance. There is no other job out there that offers the amount of great insurance coverage that the military does. Another benefit is the housing, which allows you to live on the base. Military housing is great for families just starting out. There are also many other benefits included when enlisting in the armed force.
They defiantly deserve everything they receive, because again it is not an easy line of work. These men and women are out there fighting for our country and making a living for their families to live off. Anybody who said this was easy was wrong. So next time you see somebody in the armed forces, make sure you show the up most respect.
We need to do whatever we can to assist those who come back home, changed and scarred in many ways, inside and out. It?s a time to say thank you, to go out of our ways as employers to give that service member work, to reach out at veteran?s hospitals. For friends and family, we can choose military-themed gifts or displays to help them show their legacy with pride in a prominent place in their homes. When visitors come, their military displays will show others what they have done and where they have been.
Simple gestures always help. Say thank you the next time you see that service member in uniform. Hold the door for someone who has just come home or is about to go away, give a salute. Go to the next parade and applaud for those who have served. Get a shadow box or unique army saber that family member in the service and create a gift that proves you appreciate what others have done for you. Remember your freedom is yours thanks to those in the service.
